Andy Crothers Guest Artist April 2025
Andy Crothers was inspired to art by his grandfather who drew cartoons. Crother’s art tilted in a different direction. His black and white charcoal and pencil drawings are dreamlike in subject and rendering.
When Crother’s worked for the South Bend Golf Courses, he met Harold Zisla. Harold Zisla was an IUSB professor and well know abstract painter. Crothers and Zisla became good friends. Zisla mentored Crothers in his art.
Crother’s art was influenced by relationships. In his art you can see the stories of people beginning relationships, bonding and coming apart. Hearts play a role in his art as well as nature.
Andy Crothers
Andy Crother passed away on December 1, 2022. His mother, Chris Crothers, and Robin Eaton provided PAN-O-PLY with images and stories of Andy’s artistic passion. His friends referred to him as a renaissance man because he had so many talents and passions.
“Andy had such a talent. I don’t think he ever thought it was “good enough”. It was so unique and beautiful. A God given talent. Miss you Andy.” Cathy Pittenger.
