April Poet Mykale Williams

Getting in The Flow:

Spending a lot of time getting to know her...

To know you.

To know me.

From my crown to my soul rooted deeply in the ground...

Overrun with feelings; Yet overcome with peace.

A touch of light hits my skin and once again- I feel whole  for a moment.

...

When I no longer feel the sweet rays on my skin,

I notice that I glow from within.

Happy Reflection:

I want to be happy with the person who looks back at me in the mirror.

Her,

Who I see on the surface of water.

Her,

On the tinted windows of Cadillacs.

Her,

Translucent on the windows in my bedroom.

To smile and acknowledge her light- and her darkness...

I want to truly see life in her eyes.

I The Sun

You say you see me as the sun,

Something to be admired, but only from a distance.

Who are you kidding?

You see me as the sun because when I lay my eyes upon you,

You feel bare and exposed.

You reach your hand out to me but are too afraid to get burned.

You see me as the sun...

Heart of Ice

Should I put my heart into a bucket of ice to keep the love from spreading?

To keep my feelings concealed inside...

You never take me seriously when I say I love you.

You just smile- and I get the chills.

Joyous Kwanza

It's not about clout; it's about growth.

Learning from our ancestors and our own mistakes.

Tumble down the hill I may...

But be sure to believe I will rise; Like a flame from unwatered timbers.

Even the dust from ashes will float up to shimmer in the moonlight.

It is in my path to rise and sit in the sunshine.
