A Letter from the Editor
Thank you for visiting our web magazine PAN-O-PLY Story & Art Michiana. We are very excited to present our first issue. PAN-O-PLY is a literary and arts magazine written by people who live in Michiana for Michiana. We invite you to join us on our journey to discover great writing and art. We hope our magazine will delight, inspire and spark your imagination.
I often begin an interview with, Why? Why PAN-O-PLY? Panoply is a fun word to say. Panoply means an impressive collection. Our intentions are clearly stated in our name. We endeavor to bring you a collection of writing, art and interviews with people who live an artful life.
We will bring you in depth articles every quarter as we meet local artists and musicians. We will update our page regularly with new poetry, artist of the month and interesting finds. Please return to see what is new. Please follow us on Facebook or Instagram to get up to date notices.
Interviewing the artists and musicians in this issue was a wonderful experience. I thank each of you for taking the time to meet with you and get to know you.
I want to thank Theresa Breen for supporting me in beginning this project. She has always been an excellent advisor to my wild dreams. Thank you to Dan and Julie Breen, who generously assisted in the start-up of the magazine.
Our staff at PAN-O-PLY Story & Art Michiana has done a phenomenal job preparing the magazine.
Hannah Muratori draws the PoliticA cartoons found on our Facebook page. I turned to Hannah one day and handed her some stick figures of Trump, Pelosi and what might have looked like a machine. I said, can you draw this picture? Hannah said, sure. Since then she has drawn a cartoon almost every week. Often her art exceeds my original idea. Thank you, Hannah.
Karla Flaim Wirtz is our feature writer. She will be working on Art of Life articles. These articles celebrate the good things people are doing in our community. I have known Karla since we were in middle school. I am exceedingly grateful for her help in writing, Hello Gorgeous!
Cynthia C. Davis Ph.D. was the first person to respond to my request to join the PAN-O-PLY team. She and her friend Don Nelson met with me over coffee. She has graciously agreed to proof read almost all of our copy. She also wrote the article on Wild Rose Moon. Her kind advice and expertise are most appreciated.
Brea Persing designed PAN-O-PLY Story & Art Michiana logo and web pages. This magazine is made possible because of Brea’s professionalism, design skills and vision. She has been able to help take the idea of a literary and arts magazine and bring it to reality. Thank you, Brea for all of your hard work.
