I know you probably have heard this before. But I have been drawing since I was about to hold a pencil correctly. I had an older brother Carl Phillips who was an amazing artist and inspired me to do art. I began drawing at an early age. I started by drawing the cartoons I saw on tv, you know those old tube TV’s. Then I transferred to drawing on clothing. After a few years of drawing on clothes for friends in high school. I decided I liked architecture and began developing a passion for buildings and the aesthetics of them. I was introduced to Cad and typesetting. Now cad is all on the computer, this blows me away.
This made me want to try other designing fields. I enrolled in college at Vincennes University where I continued my track career after high school. This is the place I found one of my other passions. Drawing the anatomy and painting portraits. This plays a main role in my current drawing style. After a year there I transferred to Indiana State University where I continued my track career and art interest. I began to design using a computer which was new at this time. 3D design was one of my first classes with the computer.
I am currently an art teacher and track coach for the South Bend School Corporation. I continue to push my art out as much as I can as it is my first love.
