Paradox of the Mind

by ALbert Fonner

Marvel at its magnificent splendor
As, from the edge, you take in its grandeur
And wonder if it could not be your savior
Or, paradoxically, just a pretender.

Familiar friend or fiendish foe,
Rapturous beauty or repulsive crow,
Raging torrent or irenic flow,
What monster's lie in its depths below?

An ocean to wonder while whiling away.
A sea sometimes tranquil to ponder each day.
Hold on to the lessons you've learned in the fray,
And master its strength as you then cease the day.
