Pat Pregel 3d Book Sculptures
By Dan Breen
“It’s about encouraging one another. It’s about sharing,” —
says Pat Pregel of her art and her work at the Heartland Art Center. Pregel explores different mediums and types of expression. She works in oils, acrylic, paper crafts, clay, and ceramics.
Her current interest is in re-purposing books. She experiments with book carvings to create silhouettes within the pages of the books. She creates 3D designs using paper clay to form scenes from the woods and oceans. Each piece of the design is hand formed and painted. A sculpted book can take up to sixty hours to create. “The medium excites me,” says Pregel. You can find her work at Heartland Art Center in Plymouth, Indiana.
