Winter is coming again to my Indiana home by Eric Wooding
by Eric Wooding
Winter is coming again to my Indiana home
I cannot honestly say I welcome its return
I do not
The scraping and scooping
Highways twinkle deviously…causing tires to lose their grip
And drivers to lose their cool
Winter is coming again and as it comes it alters things
Schedules
Events
Wardrobes
Mobility
Children and teachers alike wait anxiously every morning post snowfall
Hoping beyond hope to have the day off
Alas even that isn’t the same….curse you technology
What a curmudgeon I’ve become
I blame you Winter but it’s me
No one … not even you can make me feel or behave a certain way without my consent
So I vow here and now YOU SHALL NOT HAVE IT THIS YEAR
I will choose to see the beauty around me….for me…..IN ME
And I will look for it in you…..whether you are a stunning sky or snowdrifts high
Even if you be an ice storm, I will cherish the fireplace warm, and consider the sunset’s charm
Come ahead then Winter….of thee I sing…..until I start to hum the songs of SPRING!
