November 2019 Artist of the Month: JD Moffitt

Congratulations to JD Moffitt for being our November 2019 Artist of the Month!

I think art is a process of reimagining oneself. What you see is what you are, like a Rorschach test. We are attracted to things that make up our hopes and dreams, and give our lives purpose. These things may be what reason itself is made.

I am a lifelong resident of New Carlisle, Indiana. I worked forty years employment within drafting, drawing, photography, map making and graphics arts occupations. I began full time fine art pursuits beginning in 2018.

My themes center around independence, solitude, threads of small town life, family and nature. My practice includes predominantly pencil drawing and watercolor on paper. I am inspired by day to day observations. I focus in drawing and painting from plain air, life studies, photographic sources and the imagination.
