Legging It by Craig Clapper
Clapper takes us along on a physical and philosophical journey. Clapper writes about his year on the Appalachian Trail as a through hiker. He tells the stories of the people he meets and how he built lasting friendships.
He gently connects his time on the trail to his Christian beliefs. He writes about trail angels (People who bring gifts to the hikers.) “They lovingly shared their faith in deeds and words without being pushy or offensive." Clapper reveals his faith in gentle writing. Clapper’s reflection as he hikes becomes a guiding philosophy and a pleasant nudge causing one to reflect on the connection between nature and goodness.
I enjoy reading a little of Clapper’s journey at a time, reflecting on his journey. Clapper writes, “…we need to remember that it is the ‘gear between the ears’ that matters more: maintaining a positive attitude in any situation and pursuing goals consistently.” His straightforward writing and philosophy ring true.
